FAQ
How is audio file size calculated?+
For lossy formats (MP3, AAC, OGG): File size = bitrate ร duration / 8. For uncompressed (WAV): File size = sample rate ร channels ร bit depth / 8 ร duration. FLAC is similar to WAV but typically achieves 40-60% compression.
Does boosting volume increase file size?+
Minimally. When you boost a video's audio volume with an app like Loudify, the video stream stays the same size. Only the audio is re-encoded, which may change by a few percent but won't noticeably affect total file size.
What's the best bitrate for MP3?+
320 kbps is the highest quality for MP3 and is considered transparent (indistinguishable from CD) for most listeners. 256 kbps is excellent for most purposes. 128 kbps is acceptable for speech but not recommended for music.
